Petri Salermo Appointed as New CEO of Europress Group Oy

Executive Vice President Petri Salermo has been appointed as the new CEO of Europress Group effective October 1, 2025.

Industrial Counsellor Matti Turunen, the company’s founder and current CEO, will continue as Chair of the Board, focusing on board-level development and supporting operational management as Europress grows.

Matti Turunen founded Europress in 1977 and together with the team, has built Europress into a 300-employee international recycling technology company that is shaping the future of waste management. From the very beginning, investing in service and product development has been key to Europress’ success.

Petri Salermo shares the same vision as Matti Turunen and brings extensive experience in the environmental services sector, strategic leadership, and customer-focused business management.

Petri Salermo currently serves as Executive Vice President at Europress, where he is responsible for strategic leadership, sales, and business development.

He began his career at Europress in 1992 as a sales representative and returned to the company in 2025 to take on an executive role after gaining extensive leadership experience in other organizations.

Petri Salermo is an experienced and versatile leader with deep expertise in dynamic leadership, product and service business, and a wide range of customer segments.

He is known for his goal-oriented, solution-focused, and energetic leadership style. He thrives in demanding roles and is committed to collaboration and continuous personal development.

Petri strongly believes in people and customer-centricity, data-driven management, and continuous innovation — values that are also central to Europress’ future. An ambitious growth journey lies ahead, with the goal of building a more sustainable and intelligent circular economy.

Until the end of October 2024, Salermo worked at Lassila & Tikanoja Oyj where he had a 24-year career. For the past 13 years, he served as Business Area Director for Environmental Services, leading L&T’s largest business area – waste management and recycling.

He holds an Executive MBA from the University of Jyväskylä and a Certified Board Member (HHJ) qualification from the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce.

As a strong advocate for good leadership, Petri Salermo also shares his expertise as a guest lecturer.
